Allegra went to college outside of LA, and considers herself lucky to have gotten an internship at ABC when she was still in school, which eventually led to a full time job. She says that everyone’s journey is unique, and there is no one set path to working in the entertainment industry.
Everything is a Learning Opportunity
In the entertainment industry, you don’t graduate college and then immediately land your dream job. There are a lot of steps along the way, and sometimes those steps aren’t things that you have experience in. Allegra points out that all of those steps prepare you for the dream job, and how you can be successful at your dream job.
One of the things I took away from this interview is the importance of using everything as a learning opportunity. Allegra speaks about learning from mistakes and being willing to take criticism, and how you can address your weak areas. The Secret to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
A surefire way to stop comparing yourself to others? Focus instead on being your best you and doing the best you can do. Allegra speaks about how comparing herself to others is an easy thing to do, but it’s never gotten her anywhere. Focusing instead on being the best person she can be and being a person that other people want to work with has helped her far more than comparison. Remember, the timeline in your head is all arbitrary.
Jobs in the film industry are often high stress jobs, but Allegra finds that looking for the positive (and the learning opportunities) is a happier way to live.
